Is there a way to link my laptops 10/100 network card with my wireless card?
Question:
I would like to know if there is a way to link my 10/100 network card with my wireless card on my lap top. Here is what I would like to do...... I have a VOIP telephone that for the most part just plugs into my router at home threw a 10/100 wired connection, so far when I go on vacation there was a 10/100 plug I could use for this but this time the hotel I am going to only has a wireless connection to the internet, so is there a way to plug my VOIP adaptor into my laptop so it can use the wireless card to connect it to the internet.
Or is it possable to use a wireless router to connect to a wireless internet to supply the 10/100 connections to the VOIP adaptor? And if so how do I find out the Mac address for the routers wireless connection? It is not on the case!
Answer:
Depending on your OS, you should be able to set the laptop up for Internet Connection Sharing. You need to set the wireless up as the Internet connected device, and the network card as the shared device. This will make the laptop become a DHCP server giving the VOIP connection a usable but non-conflicting IP address. Hope this helps
