How to turn off message waiting indicator on GE DECT cordless phone 28110ee1?
Question:
Whenever the message waiting light comes on, indicating that I have voicemail waiting, the only way I can shut the light off is to remove the battery and re-install it. There must be an easier way to shut it off. Otherwise, this is a great cordless phone! Thanks for any ideas!!

If you go to http://www.home-electronics.net/en-us/ModelDetail.html?MN=28111EE1&Cat=Dect6.0&maincat=Dect6.0Digital and follow the "Download Instruction Book" link, it talks about the Visual Message Waiting Indicator. From what you are describing, it appears that you are using the phone company's voicemail service.
Some common causes of the VMWI not clearing are::
1. You have at least 1 new message that has not been cleared. This sometimes happens when a message is not listened to all the way to the end.
2. The phone company's voicemail system is somehow sending the signal to turn on the VMWI but not sending the one to clear it when the last new message is heard. In this case, providing that you have subscribed to the VMWI service, call the support line and let them know what is going on.
3. There is a problem with your phone system that causes problems with the "clear" signal for the VMWI. Contact GE (which might lead you to Thompson Electronics) and see what happens. Verify that your phone service provider and your phone both use the same method for clearing the VMWI.
